Boss Profile: GREED – “The Taker” Demon

In The Gilded Vault, beneath a mountain of cursed wealth and buried souls, lurks Greed, also known as The Taker. Cloaked in ancient finery and draped in coins that scream when touched, this mid-sized demon boss is one of the Seven Sin-bound horrors corrupting Lucy’s journey through hell.

With glowing eyes and a smile carved from hunger itself, Greed doesn’t just hoard—he steals. From you. Mid-combat, he siphons your resources—health, magic, and soul fragments—feeding them into his bottomless coin pouch that never seems full. His attacks are brutal but methodical:

• Coinstorm Barrage – Hurls molten gold that burns on impact.

• Vault Crush – Slams his massive sack down to create a quake of coins and bone.

• Tithe Drain (Passive) – Slowly drains the player's resource bar when within close proximity.

This realm is a grotesque treasure trove where gold bleeds, and the walls themselves pulse with greed. The floors crackle beneath your boots—bones mixed with dust, dust mixed with ash, all coated in the residue of forgotten fortunes.

Fighting Greed isn’t just about surviving—it's about resisting the temptation to pick up what you should leave buried.

Weapon Upgrade Shrine – Tarot-Fused Progression System

Overview:
The Weapon Upgrade Shrine is a sacred, infernal altar where players can evolve their weapons using cursed Tarot Cards—each representing a trial, truth, or torment drawn from Lucy’s descent through hell. Each weapon—Kujira, Meteor Hammer, and Sickle—follows a unique upgrade path tied to themed Major Arcana cards that both enhance mechanics and reflect the emotional tone of Lucy’s journey.

🗡️ Weapon Paths:

KUJIRA – Dual-Wielded Cleavers (Fast/Brutal)

• The Tower – Triggers explosive shockwaves on finishing moves.

• The Devil – Adds a bloodlust meter that boosts speed and damage.

• Death – Converts the final strike in a combo into a health-stealing execution.

METEOR HAMMER – Heavy Flail (AOE/Burst)

• Strength – Grants armor resistance when charging attacks.

• The Sun – Adds fire trails and lingering burn effects to each swing.

• The World – Enhances chain reach and adds ricochet functionality.

SICKLE – Mid-Range Arc Blade (Control/Bleed)

• Judgement – Boosts damage against enemies marked by Hellfire sigils.

• Death – Activates a “Last Gasp” counterattack when stamina is depleted.

• The Lovers – Summons a spectral twin for dual-strike combos at low health.

🃏 Tarot Mechanics:

Each card represents a single upgrade node, unlocked by progressing through key story arcs, defeating specific bosses (e.g., Greed or Lust), or discovering hidden shrines throughout the underworld. Once unlocked, cards bind permanently to the weapon, visually altering its form and infusing it with supernatural abilities.

Tarot cards are not just tools—they're memories, sins, and omens from Lucy’s past. Every weapon’s power comes with a price.

Visual Style:
Rendered in burning bronze and ash-stained parchment, each card pulses with an inner glow once activated. Red-hot traces link them in an ethereal circuit, signifying mastery over each weapon's path.

Function:
The Weapon Upgrade Shrine can be accessed at Sanctified Rest Points or Hellshrines, encouraging players to build specific loadouts suited for bosses, realms, or narrative moments.
